What’s the call an elder campaign?

A central tenet of The Black Land Papers is to help Black folks deepen the precious inter-generational bonds in their families. The Call An Elder campaign will reach major cultural events, faith centers, and HBCU campuses to collect submissions from Black people of all ages.

Our three pronged approach:

  • PRONG ONE:

Leverage major cultural events to encourage young Black people to provide short interviews on the spot. Following the interview, participants will receive a QR code pushing them to reach out to their elders and document their stories via our digital form.

  • PRONG TWO:

Bring pop-up events to HBCU campuses, Black faith spaces, and community centers to capture responses and train people on preserving their family’s relationship to land.

  • PRONG THREE:

Collaborate with young southern artists on a billboard and mural campaign that encourages Black intergenerational dialogue while sending people to the online submission site through shortened links and QR codes.
